Dear David,
I saw your note on Genealogy.com regarding the Charltons in PA and IA. I'm looking for some of the same people I believe. Specifically: the parents of Craig Charlton (Augustus Craig Charlton) b. 1847, Richland Iowa (ref 1850 & 1850 census from Richland twp. Keokuk Co. Iowa). Augustus (known as Craig) fought in civil war as Samuel GW Sharon. Buried in Santa Fe NM
in 1913. He and Caroline Alice Beatty had the following children Thomas Charlton MD(married Olga Olsen),
Mary Charlton (married Wm Eicher MD), Lydia Flora Charlton (married Lewis Frick MD),Samuel George Charlton, Tealie Charlton (married Samuel Higgins), & Taylor Charlton.
Of these children, only Samuel moved to New Mexico to join his father atthe end of the war.
Samuel married Edith Townsend and had two sons Thomas (b. 1916) and Samuel George (b. 1918).
Samuel George was my father who had four children; Ann, Thomas Robinson, Samuel George, and Holly.
I was born in 1956. My current research suggests that Craig was the son of
Samuel PO Charlton b. 1821, PA, married to Lydia. They had 2 children I know of; George M. Dallas Charlton (b 1844, PA) & Augustus Craig.
I also think that Samuel PO Charlton's Father was Samuel Charlton of Dublin Twp. PA & his wife Sarah and brother to Thomas (and perhaps Frances & Mary)
Does any of this match the lines you are researching?
Kind regards,
Samuel George Charlton
