We find this family again on the 1910 census Enumeration district 25, State of Nebraska, Scotts Bluff County, Kiawa Precinct. He is listed as "David W. Hall" age at last birthday - 35, married, number of years married - 13, born in Iowa, father's birthplace - Indiana, Mother's birthplace -Ohio (we know that his father's birthplace is not recorded correctly as his father was born in Illinois). He is listed as a farmer. This census showed he owned his own farm - free and clear. It was considered a "general farming" farm. His wife is listed as "Eleanor J. Hall". Age at last birthday, 32. married, number of years married - 13, number of children 5, number of children living 4, birthplace - Missouri, father's birthplace - Ireland, mother's birthplace - Missouri (she had said Ireland on the 1900 census). They have 2 sons and 2 daughters listed; James W. , age 12, born in Nebraska, Vaughn R. Hall (son, could this be Ross?) age 5, Hazel M. Hall, daughter, age 10, (looks like Ivan - but this is a daughter, age 2, born in Nebraska. I do not show they had a daughter named Ivan (or close to that). I do not know who this daughter is).
I found this family on the 1920 census living in Texas, Washita County, Oklahoma (Series T625, Roll 1489, page 91). The following information was found on this census record: "David W. Hall", head of household, male, white, age 44, born in Iowa, father born in Illinois, mother born in Ohio, renting a house, occupation - general farming. "Elenor Hall", wife, age 42, born in Missouri. "Iva Hall", daughter, age 12, born in Nebraska. "Finnia Hall", daughter, age 8, born in Nebraska. "Ervin Hall", son, age 7, born in Nebraska. "Vern Hall", son, age 4/12 (4 months), born in Oklahoma.
I found him again on the 1930 census living in Cedar, Custer County, Oklahoma. The following information was found on this census record: "David Hall", head of household, rent home, white, male, age 55, married, age at first marriage 22, could read and write, born in Iowa, father born in Illinois, mother born in Ohio, could speak English, occupation - farmer. "Elinor J. Hall", wife, female, white, age 52, married, age at first marriage 19, could read and write, born in Missouri, father born in Ireland, mother born in Missouri. "Iva Hall", daughter, female, white, age 22, single, could read and write, born in Nebraska, father born in Missouri, mother born in Iowa (they had that backwards) Occupation - servant in a private family. "Erwin Hall", son, male, white, age 17, single, could read and write, born in Nebraska. "Vern Hall", son, male, white, age 15, single, could read and write, born in Oklahoma.
After seeing all of the census records for 1900 - 1930, we do see a different list of children. Where I questioned on the 1910 census a name of "Ivan" we see clearly on the 1920 and 1930 census records that we have an "Iva Hall" showing up, ages are matching (1910 - age 2, 1920 - age 12, 1930 - age 22). This tells me that she should be listed as Iva on the 1910 census and was not a mistake. We now have solved a mystery through the use of census records! However, now we wonder who Lennie, William, Ross, and Stacie? Do they even belong? We do know from the 1910 census that it is stated that one of the children has died. It has been so long I do not know where I got this list of names of the unknowns. Could be I got the names from someone online. For now, we will leave them on as children. However, I would guess 3 of those 4 unknowns do not belong.

Nickname "Charlie". According to Aunt Earlene Hall, Charlie was shot and killed by a sheriff when he found Charlie in bed with his wife. Uncle Ray and Aunt Earlene were called to identify the body and were told to leave town without asking questions. The official death record states he died from a heart attack. Charlie was known for being a cad and walked out on Ada for another woman, leaving Ada to raise their 3 children and his son, Charles Raymond (Ray), alone.
I have received a copy of his death certificate. He died in Phoenix, Arizona on March 11, 1940 at the age of 42 years, 8 months, 9 days old. It states the cause of death as "Coronary Thrombosis". He is listed as a "Adv. Salesman". The informant for the information on this death certificate was Charles Raymond Hall of El Paso, Texas. Charlie was buried on March 14, 1940 at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Phoenix, Arizona. This certificate of death was State File No. 186, registered No. 380.

According to an email Aunt Earlene sent out on October 22, 2001 (to inform everyone that Louise's husband, Chet, had died), "Ray" was passed around right after his mother died. He was given to Charlie's mother, Lydia, but she died suddenly. Then he was given to Janie's parents, but they didn't keep him. Then he was given to one of Janie's sisters, but the sister died due to her husband hitting her with a skillet (she was pregnant at the time). Aunt Earlene then said " no wonder he was even more of a mess than a spoiled little boy".

In May 2006, shortly before his death, Everett sent me an email giving the account of his WWII military experience. The following is a quote: " I went into the army in the summer of 1944, went to Texas for my basic training and California for my amphibious landings training. I took jungle training in Hawaii and was sent to the island of Saipan for staging for the battle of Okinawa. I was sent to the Island of Okinawa right after the initial invasion and was assigned to the 7th Infantry Division- first as a rifleman then as a flamethower operator and finally as the company scout. For nearly six weeks were in constant combat with the enemy soldiers with very few breaks. On May28th, 1945 our company had set up a perimeter on the front lines facing the enemy after having pushed them toward the southern end of the island when we received a bombardment of heavy artillery shells from their fortifications. The enemy was very fanatical and desperate and were probably getting ready to counter-attack. I'm not sure as I received wounds on my right forearm, back and chest when one of the shells exploded close to me. We also received back up from our airplanes and navy ships in anticipation of the counter-attack. I was treated in an army mobile hospital, put on a plane to the island of Guam where I underwent surgery for my wounds and a few days to recover. Then I was sent to Hawaii to a large military hospital for a few more weeks. I was sent to a hospital in Walla Walla that is, of course, no longer there, for final recovery and to receive training as a military policeman for the planned invasion of the Japanese Islands when the atomic bomb was used and the Japanese surrendered. A few weeks later I was released from the army and sent home."
